ABOUT MICHÈLE

Originally from Argentina, with European and Indigenous ancestry, I moved as a child several times with my parents from South America to Europe, eventually settling in Germany at 21. I studied and worked in Cologne and Munich before moving to New Zealand in 2004.

From an early age I wanted to understand why I had experienced chaos and trauma in my family. An existential crisis in my adolescence led to a continuous personal and spiritual journey, always driven by the longing to heal myself and to be of help to others.

After finishing university with a Master of Art in Ethnology (main focus: ethnopsychology /intercultural communication), completing a journalism training and also becoming a naturopath, I felt still driven by the same existential questions – What is the root cause of suffering? How can real happiness be attained?

I completed a training in Humanistic Psychology and Body-centered Psychotherapy, including Bioenergetics, Voice Dialogue, Gestalt Therapy, NLP, breathing techniques (holotropic, pranayama, rebirthing) and various forms of meditation.

Attending several massage courses allowed me to add the dimension of touch to my therapeutic approach and I made myself available as a therapist.

Through my teachers, I have learnt that it is in being of service to others that real healing and happiness is attained.

I worked now over a decade in different roles in the mental health sector in Europe and New Zealand. Based in Wanaka I offer counselling/psychotherapy in English, Spanish and German, in person, as well as online and on the phone.

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), including complex PTSD, I further completed a Couple Therapy training (based on Attachment Theory) and I also use the approach of Solution Focused Therapy, IFS, Somatic Experiencing and EMDR in individual and relationship counselling. Additionally, I offer support integrating psychodelic experiences (ayahuasca, ‘magic mushrooms’, MDMA).

It is a courageous step to seek professional help when we feel ‘stuck’, ‘lost’ or even ‘falling apart’…and I am committed to providing a safe space for you to share your struggles.

I am a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (MNZAC) and ACC – Sensitive Claims Provider.
